The Executive Secretary of National Teaching Council, Dr. Addai-Poku in an encounter with the Colleges of Education Weekly Journal indicated that the introduction of the licensure exams by teachers is one of his greatest priorities. According to him, teachers who acquire the license go a long way to be recognized both locally and internationally.
In his submission, he recommended all abled teachers by encouraging them to continue to cooperate with the National Teaching Council to build the profession.
“NTC is not an enemy of teachers but rather a part of teachers. It is to enhance our profession and give us both national and international recognition”, he stated.
He however assured all trainee teachers that the licensure is not to serve as a punishment but rather to help raise their status to flourish at what they do. According to the Executive Secretary, this will enable them to go through the mill at any point in time and anywhere they find themselves.
“Trainee teachers should not antagonize the licensure exams. Let’s work together to perfect it so that it will earn them the recognition they deserve”, he added.
