The National Council and Curriculum Assessment (NaCCA) has debunked fake explanations of the ongoing Senior High school (SHS) curriculum also known as the Common Core Programmes (CCP).
According to a statement signed by the Acting Director-General of NaCCA, John Mensah Anang sighted by Listengh.net, the information from various sources making waves in the media about the ongoing high school curriculum reforms should be disregarded.
However, the new curriculum is set for roll-out following the successful conduct of regional training workshops on the common core programme. The programme mainly caters for nine areas of learning which will help prepare learners for post-secondary education, the world of work, or both.
The council however reiterated that learners will continue to write examinations at the end of JHS 3 for placement into Senior High Schools. Meanwhile, SHS 1 learners will continue to offer the same set of subjects. Learners can decide to branch into academic or career pathways after completing SHS 1.
“in the next phase of the Curriculum and Assessment Review, NaCCA in conjunction with other stakeholders will review the curriculum for SHS 2 and 3 as well as the associated assessment provisions”, the statement added.
The National Council and Curriculum Assessment is therefore entreating the general public and stakeholders to disregard fake reportage making waves about the CCP.
